Mr Chong from GK ingredients held a baking class featuring Pandan Coconut Muffins, Oreo Cupcakes, Moist Chocolate Cake and Sponge Cheese Cake.

We started off with the Pandan Coconut Muffins.

After mixing the batter, it is piped into small paper cups to be baked in the oven.

You can even pipe instant custard on it for some decoration.

While that is baking, we move on to the oreo cupcakes using cupcake premix and crushed oreos.

When they're done, it should look like these...

Moving on, Mr Ching made moist chocolate cake, again, using a premix from his company, GK ingredients..

And while that's baking, we made a caramel decoration. Begin with boiling sugar with some water till it turns golden..
Drizzle it over silicon baking paper for awesome decorations.

By melting sugar and water again, he adds baking soda and walnuts and whisks it to make Honey Comb :D

When the moist cake is done, the honey comb is sprinkled over it after a layer of ganache is spread over it...

Last on the list is the Sponge Cheese Cake.

Adding lemon flavor and honey comb makes the cheese cake even more delicious!

When that's done, it's off to the oven and should come out looking like this!
For decoration, you can pipe cream onto the cake to get a simple yet beautiful pattern.
Below is a picture of the cake made by Mr Chong the day before the class.

And now for the cupcake decorations...

This is made by putting an oreo cookie(without its cream) at the base of the paper cup before piping the batter into it.

The caramel decoration goes on top..
a few sprinkles of crushed oreo...
aaaaand...ta-daaa

The participants were allowed to have some free samples to taste
and each and everyone of them gets a box containing a few slices of ll the cakes made today... I was a very successful day of baking with Mr Chong and we hope to have him back with us soon :) THANK YOU MR CHONG!!!

Demo of Delicious cakes

A demo class was held on the 3rd of December to show participants how to make several cakes using only 2 types of flour mixes. An amazing crowd of people signed up for this class. We even received teenagers as participants for this class. However, Mr Alan managed to run the class in dual languages.

Without further ado, I would like to present to you the pictures of the day's class. First for the day was to make batter for Cupcakes, Muffin, Tiger Skin Swiss Roll and Black Forest Cake.

With that done, he put some of the batter into 2 rectangle baking trays for the Swiss Roll,

some into a round baking tray for the Black Forest,

and finally, some into a piping bag for...

the muffins and cupcakes! Easy right?

Then, it's off into the oven!

 When it's done...

Mr Alan first start with the cupcakes and muffins.

For the cupcakes, he first covers them in butter cream and adds pink petals on them.

For the muffins, he covered it with chocolate and drizzled with white chocolate. Unfortunately i don't have any pictures of him doing it but the end product will be shown at the end of this post ;)

Next would be the Tiger Swiss roll. Using two layers of cake, he simply covered it with cream and started rolling.

Easy enough right? Once again, the end product will be shown at the end of this post. Next was the Black Forest Cake, which was the longest cake to prepare of the day.
He first slices the cake into halves and puts some cream  before "sandwiching" them together. Then he makes the cakes moist by adding some "black cherry syrup".

After that, he adds black cherries onto the 2nd layer and covers the sides with cream.

With the last layer on top, he covers the entire cake with cream and adds some chocolate rice at the sides for decoration.

Then he pipes decorations onto the cake,

 and cherries on top!

Lastly, he puts shaved chocolates both milk and white in the middle.

Again, the end product will be shown at the end of this post.
Last cake for the day is the Chiffon cake. Reason this cake is made last is because this uses a different flour mix.

 When baking...

After baking, it should look like this...
And it's ready!
Now, the moment every reader has been waiting for, the results for the cakes made today..
First, is the cupcakes.

and then, the muffins.

Then, the Tiger Skin Swiss Roll,

and the Black Forest Cake.

And finally, the Chiffon Cake.

Everyone got a slice of the cake for themselves and a muffin and cupcake each. It was a very productive day for SURE.
